  • The meeting started with Gospel Sharing led by Ravi Samping

  • This was followed by inputs from Fr. Dominic where he mainly stressed on the need for all Parish Units to continue with online Gospel Sharing in this time of the second wave of Corona attack. Physical church services, masses, meetings, and activities are now severely restricted throughout the Archdiocese. The government has also advised people to restrict their movements except for essential and emergency purposes.

Fr Dominic emphasised that under these circumstances, people are again living in fear and under stress, so it is extremely important that we keep connected to each other and families by sharing and proclaiming the Word of God online to bring in hope and reaffirming our faith again and again. Also, it is the time to reach out to our neighbours, in the tradition of SCC to provide material, moral and spiritual assistance in any way we can. The more innovative the better. Many are suffering themselves from Corona complications, many are mourning loss of their family members and more people are facing joblessness. All are in need of prayers and should be praying. Other important information:

  • The sudden passing away of our colleague and brother Yeasudas Paul on the 4th of May has left many of us shattered and grieving. Yeasudas was a member of the Diocesan Resource Team.He worked at the SCC Office fulltime for the past few months and had taken on the responsibility of documentation of SCC work and programs. His enthusiasm and dedication have shown the way and highlighted the need for continuing to work towards all-round growth of SCC in the Archdiocese.

Mr. Ravi Samping (also a member of Diocesan Resource Team) has been requested to and agreed to give full time at the SCC office so the work started can continue without a break.

  • Many people have been calling for assistance and there is an obvious need to provide Counselling to encourage and guide people with correct information and directions. Father Dominic has a list of people/ organisations willing to provide this service. Their contact details will be given to the Group shortly.

  • People were finding the use of Telegram App somewhat problematic for various reasons. Therefore, SCC general communications have been reverted to WhatsApp. All Units and the Parish Coordinators are requested to share their Gospel Sharing sessions and assistance activities through photos, captions, and messages on WhatsApp groups.

However, it is advised that regular Email be used to share photos, reports, presentations which need to be stored for proper documentation purposes in a permanent form. Retrieving important material from phone apps is extremely time consuming, cumbersome, and technically problematic. Ways, forms, and processes of reporting at different levels will be consolidated and communicated by the Diocesan Resource Team shortly.

  • Developing an SCC Commission official Website is a ‘work under progress’. On this site, all important information, reports, presentations and photos will be available to all about the activities in the past, news of the ongoing animators’ orientation-training programs, formation of Zone Service Teams (ZST) and all other Parish level activities as well as information on future activities. The Website should be up and running by the end of May 2021.

  • The meeting was opened for the participating Parish Representatives to share and inform of the status of activities in the various parishes. Many reported that their parish Units had started physical Gospel Sharing sessions from December last year up to Easter this year (2nd April 2021). However, during the election period (whole of April) and under the circumstances of the present Corona second wave, they reverted to the online process that was followed last year.

A few parishes also reported that from March-April this year, many Units have again become dormant and are yet to connect through online meetings. The Representatives of these parishes were asked to connect with Unit leaders and encourage them to re-start online processes.

  • Sr. Anu SMI who worked tirelessly with total dedication for the growth and spread of the SCC in the Archdiocese over the past four years will now be leaving the group as she has been called to other duties in Kalyani. She will be leaving for Krishnanagar on the 15th of this month.

Sr. Rajni, SMI, has been deputed to take up Sr. Anu’s work. Sr. Anu was given an impromptu farewell at the meeting – pending a proper farewell when we can all get together again. Similarly, Sr. Rajni (present at this meeting) was warmly welcomed by all.

The meeting closed with a joint prayer by Sr. Anu & Sr. Rajni.
